Crisis solutions

We are everywhere you need us

Trusted by millions

Carelon Behavioral Health is a recognized industry leader in crisis systems of care. We are trusted nationwide to provide fast, reliable, equitable, and cost-effective crisis services that address the unique needs of the community.

We are proud to have played an integral role in supporting the launch of the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Bolstered by our Crisis Center of Excellence, we work with individual states and regions around the country.

Crisis line services

Our crisis line services support a 24/7 hotline that facilitates phone, text, and chat-based crisis de-escalation by specialists trained in trauma-informed care. The hotline serves as air traffic control and is the front entry into the crisis system.

Once in the system, individuals are screened, assessed, triaged, and referred to appropriate services. Real-time monitoring and tracking ensure individuals experiencing a crisis get the help they need quickly. Accredited by the American Association of Suicidology, our crisis line services meet National Suicide Prevention Lifeline standards and:

  • Support immediate and coordinated handoffs to stabilization and recovery services if the crisis cannot be resolved.
  • Dispatch mobile crisis teams, when appropriate, without unnecessary law enforcement involvement.
  • Maintain individuals in their communities.
  • Reduce unnecessary visits to emergency departments, inpatient psychiatric units, detention centers, and residential treatment centers.

Crisis administrative service organization

We work with communities to design crisis systems that deliver the full spectrum of behavioral healthcare while reducing reliance on expensive resources.

Together our programs are clinically effective and reduce costs. Crisis system oversight and management services include:

  • Contracting with experienced providers.
  • Monitoring key performance indicators and quality metrics.
  • Eligibility determination and utilization management.
  • Customer satisfaction surveying.
  • Data analytics and reporting.
  • Community collaboration.
  • Training and technical assistance.
  • Administration of braided funding mechanisms.
